Another week of magnificent microfossils!

Thank you to my volunteers Amrie Singh (Beauchamp College, Leicester) and Daniel Downs (Prince’s Trust, Leicester) who worked with me on the week of 15th July. We spent a fantastic week picking for microfossils, sieving samples and drawing, photographing and SEM imaging specimens. Thanks to their efforts we are now getting more and more data on the fauna preserved in these sediments.

Both volunteers were here to get more work experience before doing geology degrees at university. This is a great way to meet undergraduate students and academic staff, talk about university life and what geologists do, to find out if it’s the right career for you.

Until next time
